I'm fundraising for a great cause!

It’s on again - the 2021 Below the Belt #YourWay Challenge and we are hoping to have many Bec’s Troops supporters join our team. See how far you can #MoveInMay to help raise awareness and funds for clinical trial research.

2021 is the 10th year since our beautiful Bec 😇died from Kidney cancer, one of the Below the Belt cancers and being part of this campaign can help ANZUP improve outcomes for patients through much needed research.

The 2021 #moveyourway campaign will appeal to many more of you because you can walk,🚶run, 🏃🏻‍♀️swim, 🏊🏼‍♀️ride, 🚴🏻‍♂️do your gym work out, 🏋️dance class - 💃whatever keeps you moving. You choose between counting kilometres or time.

We will also be having a main event to be held on Sunday 30th May with a Becs Troops team for a walk/run/ride in Lysterfield National Park with a short course round the lake and a longer 20km course to be finalised. PLEASE SAVE THE DATE.

This will be a morning event followed by a celebratory Sausage Sizzle lunch and drinks at The Jago home. Anyone who joins the event and or supports our fundraising is welcome to join us. This is a way to thanks for your many years support. To sign up for the Becs Troops team please use the following link.

Feel free to have your own groups within this  invite your friends and do your own thing to help support a great cause very close to our hearts 💕

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about ANZUP, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

My Updates

Why we support ANZUP’s move #yourway for Below the Belt Cancers

Monday 10th May
Week Two Our devastating experience with Bec’s kidney cancer diagnosis in 2016 and her death in 2011 at the age of 19 led me to join ANZUP’s Consumer Advisory Panel after expressing my interest to her oncologist Guy Toner (who at that time was Deputy Chair of the ANZUP Board) in being able to use this unwanted experience to help others in a positive way. Clinical trials was also a particular interest and Bec’s had had an opportunity to participate in a clinical trial as part of her treatment. This is why Tony and I, our family and friends help support ANZUP and their Below the Belt Fundraising Campaign’s. This help’s to raise awareness and much needed funds to continue research into answering important questions to help improve outcomes in the future for patients like Bec. Tony and I spent the first week of the #yourway challenge on Hamilton Island which is always a favourite but very reflective place for us to visit. Hamilton Island became a very special place after Bec’s Kidney cancer diagnosis in May 2006 at the age of 13. She had had major surgery to remove a very large tumour in June after which she weighed a mere 27kgs and was still seriously ill from what she had been through. She needed a kick start to help her body heal and the family needed a treat. We decided some warm weather lots of swimming, outdoor living and favourite buffet breakfasts might help. having been to Hamilton Island a number of times previously it seemed to offer what we were looking for. We spent a glorious 10 days in this paradise and was just the tonic that we all needed. Sadly, Hamilton Island was also the last family trip that we had with Bec in April 2011 as after this time she was not well enough to travel anymore. When Tony and I come back every year there are so many wonderful memories, we feel very connected and have many special spots to visit and it was an enjoyable way to start our 2021 #yourway campaign. 3 weeks to go !

Day 2 Sawmill Bay to Dugong Beach

Thursday 6th May
Day 2 A pretty walk today from Sawmill Bay to Dugong Beach and return. No swimming allowed in CID Harbour anymore and even kayaking is not recommended. The 2.2 kms will have to do, it’s hard to get the kms done when you are living on a boat for a week, will have to make up for it soon!! PS this photo is looking over CID Harbour a few years ago. Had no camera on Day 2.

May 1st Opening Walk Langford Reef Lookout
