Swimming for Below the Belt Cancers
In February 2021, I suffered from a spinal cord compression, which suddenly while waiting for my elective surgery led to a condition called Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) and was luckily operated on and saved on the same day.
For few months after, I tasted a bit of what some below the belt cancer patients with spinal metastasis need to live with and it was NOT easy. I picked up swimming and never stopped & fully recovered.
This year I am swimming to help fight Below the Belt / Genitourinary cancers.
Below the belt cancers affect close to 30,000 Aussies and New Zealanders every year. This is a statistic I don't want to see continue.
During April 2024, I will be swimming for 20kms for every below the belt cancer patient.
In addition, my goal is to raise 1000$ in support of ANZUP cancer trials and their efforts to serve Below the Belt Cancer Patients in Australia and worldwide.
